Jaat Box Office Collection Day 1: A Modest Yet Promising Start

Sunny Deol delivered the biggest hit of his 40-year career with 2023’s Gadar 2, and soon afterwards, he signed on to a string of projects, including Jaat, Border 2 and Lahore 1947. The first film of the lot, Jaat, has hit the screens and it doesn’t look like it will share the same fate as Gadar 2. A sequel to the 2001 hit Gadar, made around Rs 40 crore on its opening day. Jaat has made Rs 9.5 crore nett in India on its first day, as per Sacnilk.

The release of Jaat on Thursday coincided with a holiday across many parts of north India, due to Mahavir Jayanti, which naturally helped boost its initial audience turnout. The film saw a modest, yet noteworthy occupancy rate of around 14 percent overall. Looking closer at regional metrics, in the Delhi-NCR area, Jaat was screened in a total of 1472 shows, achieving an occupancy of approximately 19 percent. Meanwhile, in the Mumbai region, the film was presented in roughly 984 shows, but the occupancy there was a lower 11 percent. These numbers give an early insight into the film’s reception in major markets, although they still leave room for growth as the weekend progresses.

Comparing Jatt’s Opening with 2025’s Big Releases

When comparing Jaat’s opening collections to other films this year, it’s clear that while its figures might seem modest when stacked against blockbusters like Gadar 2, they’re still quite respectable, especially considering the context within the industry. To put this into perspective, the biggest Hindi film so far this year has been Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal, which opened to a substantial Rs 31 crore. This sets a high benchmark for new releases, illustrating the competitive nature of the current box office landscape.

Following Chhaava, the next prominent performers include Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, which earned around Rs 26 crore on its opening day.
